Why is outdoor activity so important post COVID?

Since March 2020 we have all been prisoners of our environment with COVID causing mass lockdown throughout the world. Outdoor activity has been pretty much extinct due to the severe restrictions placed on us for safety purposes.

With the slight reduction of COVID measures we are now exploring a new world, a world whereby we have limitations in what we can do and a world where we are now testing these boundaries. Being locked down for so long has been detrimental to our mental and physical health, causing increased incidences of depression and low esteem.

Now it seems that the great outdoors is open for business (although using a little restraint), meaning people can start to get back out into the fresh air of the wild. Hiking, cycling, mountaineering and so on can be enjoyed by everyone.

Time spent outdoors is also thought to help relieve stress and anxiety by reducing levels of the hormone cortisol in the brain. It can also relieve stress and anger in many, and that is a good thing post COVID. Not to mention the health benefits, including cardiovascular improvement due to the natural activity of being outdoors.

The effects of being able to escape into the great outdoors is priceless. Allowing the mind to escape the four walls its been accustomed to lately and for the body to benefit from fresh air and exercise. There has never been a better time to get involved in the great outdoors, especially with like minded people and expert instructors.
